چکیده

We identify spectral similarities between asteroids and meteorites. matches 500 asteroid spectra over 1,000 samples of RELAB meteorite 0.45-2.5 microns. reproduce many major previously known meteorite-asteroid connections find possible new, more rare or less-established connections. Well-established include: ordinary chondrites (OC) with S-complex asteroids; pristine CM carbonaceous Ch-type heated CMs C-type HED meteorites V-types; enstatite Xc-type CV K-type Brachinites, Pallasites R olivine-dominated A-type asteroids. a trend from Q, Sq, S, Sr to Sv correlates LL H, Q-types matching predominately L chondrites, predominantly H chondrites. Ordinary chondrite that match the X-complex, all measurements slabs labeled as dark black (shocked) OCs. having slopes large enough D-type spectra. In cases type links are not unique. While there well established an class class, less common but still spectrally compatible types types. This result emphasizes diversity compositions highlights degeneracy classification by features alone. Recent upcoming spacecraft missions will shed light on classes, particularly those without diagnostic features, (C-, B-, X-, D-types), Ceres, Ryugu, Bennu, Psyche, C-, P-, D-types part Lucy mission.

Visible-Wavelength Spectroscopy of Asteroids

Since first becoming available for astronomical research in the early 1980s, charge-coupleddevice (CCD) spectrographs have had a profound impact on our ability to measure the spectralreflectance properties of asteroids. High signal-to-noise, low-resolution spectra, covering the visible-wavelength region from 0.4 to 1.0 μm, are now routinely obtained for asteroids much fainter than were measured...

Soil analysis using visible and near infrared spectroscopy.

Visible-near infrared diffuse reflectance (vis-NIR) spectroscopy is a fast, nondestructive technique well suited for analyses of some of the essential constituents of the soil. These constituents, mainly clay minerals, organic matter and soil water strongly affect conditions for plant growth and influence plant nutrition. Here we describe the process by which vis-NIR spectroscopy can be used to...

brain near-infrared spectroscopy (nirs)

near-infrared spectroscopy (nirs) is a spectroscopic method that uses the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. typical applications include medical and physiological diagnostics. nirs can be used for non-invasive assessment of brain function through the intact skull in human subjects by detecting changes in blood hemoglobin concentrations associated with neural activity, e.g., ...
